We know how important it is for you to keep your personal data safe and, because of this, we want you to be 100% sure that we don’t handle your sensitive calendar data when helping you to schedule meetings. Here we explain how we can help you schedule a meeting in seconds without accessing your confidential data.
Let’s go back to the beginning of Calbot.
During the very early days of Calbot, when we were just piloting one of our initial prototypes, we got an opportunity to try it out with a small team in a very large Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company. As you might expect, the security and privacy measures that the company had were very strict and they didn’t want to give us access to their data (fair enough).
To solve that problem, we reengineered the way Calbot works with data. For one, we minimised the data we stored on our servers. And so, because of that, we currently only store:
- Email you registered with
Secondly, we also got rid of all the calendar data. At this point, you may be wondering the following:
How can Calbot schedule a meeting without calendar data?
Well, we request access to your calendar each time you or someone else wants to schedule a meeting with you. That way we don’t have to store any of it. This can make compliance very easy. Plus, this way we also use minimal storage space and so our operational costs are quite low which is good for our business.
Finally, all the data we request comes in a special format. Calbot can’t actually see the title of the event, it’s location, description, etc. In fact, we can only see if you are free or busy.
That way we don’t handle your sensitive calendar data and you can be 100% sure no one scheduling a meeting with you will see what exactly you are doing.
